Where did October go?

I’m amazed its November! Last month I reworked a couple of paintings I wasn’t super happy with and did some proptype work on a really interesting commission. One of the things I enjoy most about being part of a cooperative gallery is that I get informative feedback on my paintings, and it helps me to improve them.

In “Calm in a Chaotic Sea” the turtle image was subtle, just a shadow-like figure in the background. My artist friend, Gary, suggested the turtle should come forward more, be more emphasized. So I did that and I think he was right! I like it much better now.

I changed the whole idea of the “Nautilus” painting I had originally posted. I wanted to add some more color to it, and as I did so it became “The Essence of an Angel”. There is a lot of texture in the wings with iridescent paint.  I had to wait a long time to change this one, as it had been juried into the “Our Town” art show in Birmingham back in March.  Then everything got shut down and the show was postponed and I didn’t think I should change it until the show was over.  I’m pretty happy with it now.
